I’ve never really talked much about the weavers.
Maybe because I didn’t want it to seem like we were using their stories to get attention.
But honestly, I think it’s time to talk about what really happens behind the scenes — the people behind the looms, and why paying them right truly matters.
Over the past few years, I’ve spent time with a lot of weavers across Telangana.
And one line I hear again and again, “I don’t want my kids to do this work. It’s just not enough to survive.”
Imagine this, entire family working 16 to 18 hours a day, day after day, and still earning less than ₹5000 a month.
There are no weekends. No holidays. No space to say “I’m tired.”
They are not just weaving fabric, but survival.
Meanwhile, I see people spending in one evening what could’ve been a weaver’s 4-month salary. Sometimes on things that won’t even be remembered the next week.
It makes you think — how are we okay with this?
How can someone dream of a better future, when they’re stuck fighting for the bare minimum?
This is why right pay matters.
Right pay! Not charity, but a deserved pay has all the power to transform. It changes how they live, how they dream, how they see their place in this world.
At VE-VA, we make sure every individual in our supply chain is paid fairly. When you choose to spend with us, you’re not just buying a product — you’re investing in the dignity and betterment of those who make it possible.
Let’s be more thoughtful. Let’s value what truly matters.
